Explore the dynamics of industry/university collaborative applied research, including how university research faculty and student researchers can help bring new technologies from the lab to the marketplace.
Brian Apkarian, the Director of Business Development at the Center for Future Energy Systems (CFES) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), will lead this overview session on Empire State Development’s Centers for Advanced Technology (CATs) and their mission to help NYS companies increase revenue, reduce costs, and win federal research grants.
CFES works with startups all the way to Fortune 100 companies in areas including renewable energy, energy storage, smart-grid, fuel cell, green hydrogen, and energy efficient technologies. It also works closely with other centers on campus such as RPI’s Manufacturing Innovation Center to deliver proof of concept, prototype development, design for manufacturability, modeling and simulation, materials testing, and more. And, for NYS companies, CFES can often provide cost-share.
