Timothy Thaney has recently joined NextCorps’ Board of Directors. We had the opportunity to speak with Timothy to discuss his experience in financial assurance and community leadership.
From Financial Assurance to Community Leadership
Tim is currently a partner at DeJoy & Co.’s Financial Assurance Practice, directing the firm’s tax-exempt practice. With a deep understanding of the not-for-profit sector, Thaney provides valuable consultation on fundraising, government grants, maintaining not-for-profit status, and internal controls. His career includes over 15 years with an international bank and brokerage firm, and three years with the audit division of an international accounting firm, equipping him with expertise in investment and wealth planning strategies.
The Future of Innovation
Thaney is ready for his new role at NextCorps, expressing a keen interest in the innovative technology companies seeking to grow within the community. He emphasizes the critical role of financial and technical support in the success of these enterprises, leveraging his extensive experience as a CPA and banker.

Beyond Work: Thaney’s Interests and Lifestyle
Outside his professional life, Thaney has diverse interests. Embracing a semi-retired lifestyle with a flexible work schedule, he finds fulfillment in various activities. The summer months are filled with golf with friends and family and Tim also enjoys reading, which he finds valuable for expanding his horizons and providing moments of introspection.
“Staying updated with business and economic matters keeps my mind sharp and allows me to contribute meaningfully.” Moreover, Thaney treasures the bonds of companionship and the joy of shared experiences. “Life is a precious gift,” he reflected, and after retirement, he hopes to travel more, spend quality time with loved ones, and celebrate life’s beauty.
