Claudio Mazzali, Sr. Vice President and CTO of the Corning Optical Communications Sector, Corning, Inc., USA, Optical Society (OSA) Fellow, and Co-Chair of this year’s Frontier in Optics + Laser Science web conference, speaks with Sujatha Ramanujan, Luminate’s Managing Director and an OSA Board Member, about what to expect at OSA’s first all-virtual FiO+LS conference. Mazzali shares his excitement about the new technologies and his take on the potential that can come of a virtual event.
OSA’s FiO+LS will be held virtually from Sept. 14-17 with a focus on quantum technologies, augmented vision and virtual reality. The conference will be held in conjunction the Quantum 2.0 Conference and Luminate Finals 2020 to bring new content and opportunities to attendees. At Luminate Finals, 10 optics photonics, and imaging startups from NextCorps’ Luminate Accelerator program will pitch for the chance to win up to $2M in follow-on funding. Quantum 2.0 will feature the latest on the development and use of many-body quantum superposition, entanglement, and measurement to advance science and technology.
