There are only five Patent and Trademark Resource Centers (PTRCs) in New York State, and 85 in the entire country. The Carlson Center for Intellectual Property at the Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County is one of them, and businesses can take advantage of free access to many valuable services there. Jennifer Byrnes, Director of the Business Insight Center at the Central Library, talks with Kate Meddaugh, Manager of the Carlson Center, about these services and how the library can assist with conducting patent searches, registering intellectual property, and getting in good shape to meet with an IP attorney.
